Woodstock

I don't know about you but I am super amped to see Ang Lee's movie on Woodstock, Taking Woodstock, opening tonight in theaters everywhere. I love everything about the seemingly magical three day festival. The music. The clothing. The aura. All of it! I love living vicariously for a couple of hours in any Woodstock documentary and hopefully this new movie as well.

Now for you fans out there with a tot, we have a jolly good offering for you - The Jefferson Airplane onesie by Rowdy Sprout! You know that Woodstock is where the band really shot to fame, right?
Okay, so your kid is more rocker than hippie? Then maybe the
Kiss onesie is right for them. And if Gene Simmons scares them, maybe they like the classics, like the Beatles onesie above?
Or maybe you have a toddler who love the classics? The Rolling Stones Baseball jeresey is perfect and we have it up to size 3T!
And if you have a little hip-hopper on your hands, Run DMC's onesie is going to suit them just fine: Last but not least, if your mini-me would rather make music, we have got a delicious DJ hoody for them (also up to 3T!):
(Beatles onesie, Rolling Stones baseball tee, Run DMC onesie and DJ hoodie only in-store at the moment...stay tuned for when they are added online)

Incense: Not Just For Dirty, Stinkin' Hippies Anymore

Hippies (and their modern stepchild, the Trustafarian), have long claimed incense as their unofficial smell track. Along with overwrought jam-band guitar solos, tapestries, parking lot veggie burritos and free love, incense is considered a delicacy to many of the hippy persuasion. Of course, incense has a much more meaningful history- which you can read about here- but I think you catch my drift. Incense was definitely not being burned at the viewing party for the Alabama-Georgia game last night.
In addition to our beloved collection of men's and women's clothing, gifts, accessories, shoes, baby stuff, jewelry and apothecary, Jac. is also stoked (that's the incense talking) to be carrying Paine's, the most serenely scented incense we've ever had the pleasure of smelling.
Paine's is the greatest thing to come out of Maine since lobster and Judd Nelson- stop by the shop and smell for yourself!

Jammin' Down Memory Lane

I know nothing about women's bathing suits, other than that they come in two options: one piece, and two piece. I am, after all, the Resident Male. Did you really expect more from me?

Thankfully, I do know something about men's bathing suits. It all begins and ends with Jams.
I used to love Jams. They represented a stark rebuttal to the previous king of the beach, the vaunted Speedo. I received my first pair of Jams somewhere around the time that the Berlin Wall went down, and even then I realized the cultural significance (for both the World as well as my own self-image).

Jams, in all their glory:

Unfortunately, all of my Jams have been retired. Besides the fact that it would be a little strange to wear the same bathing suit that I did when I was thirteen, the Jams all faded, broke down, finally just gave up. If only I had known about The Laundress' Swimwear Care...

This stuff is incredible- it was designed specifically to deal with the unholy trinity of salt, sand and chlorine. Don't let your favorite suit suffer the same fate as my Jams. Come by Jac. and pick up some Swimwear Care. Think of it as Proactiv for your bathing suit.
