I have an obsession. This is a confession...

Today, as I walked into the store, this is what I saw... I couldn't believe my eyes!

Need I say more? Ok, if I must... the mix of retro style, bows, buttons and a dash of feminine flare is so exciting to me. I melted. I melted until there was nothing left of me!

Have you all seen the most recent commercial for cotton? You know the one. We blogged about it way back here? Well, all I have to say is Zooey Dechanel supports it all... the material, the colors, and the coolest label out there called Dear Creatures.

I think Jaci has out done herself yet again. Her taste is extraterrestrial...

Happy Friday!

Comfy on the Toesies...

I love my heels and boots, but whenever I see a new pair of Toms roll into the shop I feel a flutter in my stomach. Of course we love that with every pair purchased, TOMS gives a pair of new shoes to a child in need. But we super duper love the feel, look and touch of them. Especially this new pair: Poe. Soft yet sturdy flannel with a brown/white/orange color combo that make them just the perfect thing to get me around this Fall. My tootsies are already loving!

Jac, as seen on the Real Housewives of Atlanta

Let's be honest, Bravo has gone a bit blue with its déclassé shows of NYC Prep and Miami Social. That being said, I usually find myself tuning in for one of their shows (Top Chef, Flipping Out) at least once a week. This also includes the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Though these ladies don't always give Atlanta the best representation, it's still one of those shows I always find myself watching. So just imagine my surprise when I tune into this week's episode and see Miss Kandi Burruss (one of our favorite customers), pose for her Alter Ego photo shoot wearing her awesome Sarah Luna dress from our lil' old boutique! Yes, I absolutely shot right up and screamed, "Oh my gosh! That's our dress" the minute I saw her rocking it. Very exciting for Jac. to (sort of) get three seconds of fame. Click here to run through the pictures and see Kandi wearing her pink and white check Sarah Luna dress (photos 5 thru 8). Just had to share!

Woodstock

I don't know about you but I am super amped to see Ang Lee's movie on Woodstock, Taking Woodstock, opening tonight in theaters everywhere. I love everything about the seemingly magical three day festival. The music. The clothing. The aura. All of it! I love living vicariously for a couple of hours in any Woodstock documentary and hopefully this new movie as well.

Now for you fans out there with a tot, we have a jolly good offering for you - The Jefferson Airplane onesie by Rowdy Sprout! You know that Woodstock is where the band really shot to fame, right?
Okay, so your kid is more rocker than hippie? Then maybe the
Kiss onesie is right for them. And if Gene Simmons scares them, maybe they like the classics, like the Beatles onesie above?
Or maybe you have a toddler who love the classics? The Rolling Stones Baseball jeresey is perfect and we have it up to size 3T!
And if you have a little hip-hopper on your hands, Run DMC's onesie is going to suit them just fine: Last but not least, if your mini-me would rather make music, we have got a delicious DJ hoody for them (also up to 3T!):
(Beatles onesie, Rolling Stones baseball tee, Run DMC onesie and DJ hoodie only in-store at the moment...stay tuned for when they are added online)

Sound Check: July

Loving our new beats:
  • Golden Smog - if you love Wilco, you'll love Golden Smog as Jeff Tweedy is on half the vocals. Listen to "I Can."
  • Alice Smith - we love rediscovering an oldie from the arsenal - and we've been boogieing around to "Woodstock" all month long!

All Scream for ICE CREAM!

My favorite real estate agent has been diligently working away on an Inman Park Dine-Out to happen later this month (stay tuned for details). Lucky for me, local Inman Park star Jake's Ice Cream has decided to participate by launching the Inman Park Ice Cream Flavor contest.

Whooopeeee!
To enter, review the current flavor list on the website to assure that there are no duplications of existing flavors. Then, with your favorite natural ingredients in mind and including things that best reflect the beauty, the spirit and the character of Inman Park, name and invent a flavor! The winning flavor will make its debut at City Council Chambers on the 20th of July, when Atlanta City Council get to come in and make the new batch with Jake. The flavor will also be an ongoing feature of the Irwin Street Market store. And doubly lovely, fifty cents of every scoop, pint and quart goes to the Inman Park Security Patrol.
Hmmmmmm....I am off to dream up the most delicious scoop ever!!!

It's too hot out

All this time in doors....makes me want to redecorate!

Cool blue tones seem like a good idea

Love the idea of a bright and cheery library instead of your typical dark and cozy

Nothing makes you exhale "ahhhh" like an all-white room

Totally Awesome

I heart my friend Martha who is a wickedly awesome graphic designer. Yay for her as she is getting married in October! Just check out these incredible Save the Dates she sent out that had us drooling: No, your eyes do not deceive you. Yes, that is letterpress, designed by Marth herself, done by the lovely Alee & Press, stitched by Marth onto fabric by Amy Butler. Clearly we are on the edge of our seats for the official invite, and of course, the wedding!!

Sound Check: June

It may be sweltering outside, but inside were staying cool and listening to these fine tracks:
  • Mos Def - This fab album came out just a few weeks ago and it's already getting tons of play. We can't get "Quiet Dog" out of our heads!
  • Q-Tip - Who doesn't love Q-Tip?? Well, if you don't already from his Tribe Called Quest days, give one listen to "Won't Trade" and you'll be an instant fan.

You may think I'm crazy....

But I am ready for Fall! Sure June just began and we are all excited to sport our sandals and bikini tops, but just around the corner our pre-Fall rolls in! So I took the liberty of updating our collections list down to the right. Not all our designers are on it of course (like Gemma and Parker (two great lines of blouses), but I thought maybe I could excite you all about the season ahead as well! It all begins this July....YAY!
PS - like the sweater above? Its TWG and it's coming in this Fall!

Hair-Raising Thoughts

It's one thing to love your duds, it's a whole other thing to love your look....and one of the most important things when putting yourself together for almost any woman is her hair. Summer in Atlanta is particularly hard with the intense humidity. I've been looking for other options than the easy-peasy pony-tail pull-back and here's a few I may tackle in the coming weeks:
Anna Paquin works a perfectly lovely messy side bun
Looks a bit fancy, but I think I can pull off a similar version with about 1 million bobby pins
I've been trying to master this cross-over braid for a few months now
Taylor Swift rocks the Bohemian look with a Bandeau. Not sure if this is for me so I have been sticking to our fabulous headbands by local Kelly Cadet and Pistachio

Do you have any summer hair cares? Send us a comment or stop by to try on our amazing hair pieces!

Full Disclosure

I am a HUGE Archie comics fan, and I have been since I was about 8 years old. I spent all my allowance at the comic shops (do those even exist these days??), treasured every copy sent to me at camp (thank you Mom) and saved every issue in perfect condition and proudly displayed them on my bookshelf.
But alas, these days my only Archie interaction is a quick reading on the sly at the grocery check-out.
So imagine my indelible surprise to read in this article that our favorite red-headed freckle face is about to propose to one of his long-time lovelies.
Shocking news!!!
Which one will it be?? Well, let's be honest folks, in today's economy the good "guy" always wins. My money's on Betty. I am envisioning her wearing this gorgeous dress by Built by Wendy when he pops the question:
But it's a long time since I've caught up the trials and tribulations on Mr. Andrews. Perhaps these hard economic times have hit our hero as well? If so, marrying the wealthy Veronica would be a quick fix....Though a bit abrasive, she does have some serious fashion sense. I picture her in this number by Laeken:
Who will it be???? The suspense is pretty intense folks. I guess we'll all have to wait till August though. The big event takes place in issue no.600 due out then...
