WELCOME!

We LOVE that all these new businesses are opening right in our hood!

This is a big shout-out to newbie Savi Urban Market - right down on Elizabeth Street. We are just on the edge of our seat to get over there and sample the local produce, breads, meats and cheeses!

Right across the street from SUM, we are super amped about Raw - a new organic spray tan salon. WHAT??? Organic spray tan? Sign us up!

Also set to open any day now, Pure Taqueria - and believe me, our mouths are already watering!!

Come down to Inman Park to visit us all!!!

Hood Happenings....

Just had to share - so much going on in Inman Park!
  • Just down the street in the old Grape space, construction going on for the newest location of Pure Taqueria (hollah!)
  • Around the corner on Elizabeth Street the large empty shell of new construction is finally being filled with a deli/market ala Whole Foods/Fresh Market called Savvy Urban Market (double hollah!)
  • Just across the street on Elizabeth next to the fabulous new waxing studio, Wax, there's paper on the windows - more things to come in! We'll do some reconnaissance on that and get back to you.....
  • Just noticed a sign for "Authentique" next to our favorite flower shop, Adaptation...not sure what it is going to be but excited for all these new neighbors!

Inman Park Dine Out - Let's Eat, Shop and Drink for a cause!

Inman Park is one of those neighborhood gems in Atlanta. Grand old homes, refurbished historic buildings, unique businesses and delicious restaurants. We love being part of this awesome collection!
And we love to show neighborhood support. That's why tomorrow (Wednesday) we are joined up with most of our neighbors for the Inman Park Dine Out where we will donate a portion of our sales for the day to the Inman Park Security Patrol - a wonderful group of people helping to keep Inman Park safe.
We encourage you to check the list of participating businesses and make a day or night (or both) here in Inman Park supporting these fantastic local shops, restaurants and bars.
See you all tomorrow!

All Scream for ICE CREAM!

My favorite real estate agent has been diligently working away on an Inman Park Dine-Out to happen later this month (stay tuned for details). Lucky for me, local Inman Park star Jake's Ice Cream has decided to participate by launching the Inman Park Ice Cream Flavor contest.

Whooopeeee!
To enter, review the current flavor list on the website to assure that there are no duplications of existing flavors. Then, with your favorite natural ingredients in mind and including things that best reflect the beauty, the spirit and the character of Inman Park, name and invent a flavor! The winning flavor will make its debut at City Council Chambers on the 20th of July, when Atlanta City Council get to come in and make the new batch with Jake. The flavor will also be an ongoing feature of the Irwin Street Market store. And doubly lovely, fifty cents of every scoop, pint and quart goes to the Inman Park Security Patrol.
Hmmmmmm....I am off to dream up the most delicious scoop ever!!!

Neighborhood Jewels

Often times people ask why I selected Inman Park for Jac., and to me the answer is a no-brainer. It's the 100-year-old tree-lined streets, numerous parks, old Victorian houses and new mixed-use developments. All of them make for an unbelievable neighborhood. So many gems to be found! And actually this past week I had time to visit and experience a few of them:
Serpas - brand new restaurant by Atlanta acclaimed chef Scott Serpas in Studioplex - delicious and what a gorgeous space! Um, Eggplant Hushpuppies and Texas Crab Toast??? Hells yeah.
New Moon Skincare - Amy Leavell, esthetician extraordinaire, also at Studioplex, gives incredible facials and more. Serene setting and Amy is wonderful at making you feel comfortable and beautiful!
Il Loca Lino - an old Inman Park stand-by, this amazing restaurant is like a perfect New York Italian restaurant hidden away. Seriously. Go. Now. The owners serenade you, the food is scrumptious (chicken parm is ABFAB) and it's a great space for a romantic date or a group party.
So those are this week's recommendations. Go and enjoy and of course, on your way after come visit us at Jac!

A Word Of Wisdom To The Fellas

Dear Readers,
If you're a dude, read on. If you're a gal, cut, paste, and send along to your dude. Thanks!

To My Fellow Man,
I know that you're not crazy about Valentine's Day. I know that you think it's a made up holiday. But guess what? You still have to step up. The fact that you're not into it does not mean that she's not into it.

The good news is that I'm here to help. I've got some vital words of wisdom that can help get you through this holiday looking like a champ. And the best part is, you can do it all right in Inman Park.

Step One: Get Your Gift At Jac.
Valentine's Day isn't special without that beautiful, butcher paper wrapped present from Jac. Preview our jewelry selection here, so you can get an idea of what to buy her before you come in. We've got all of her favorites- just ask Jac, and she'll help you find a winner.

Step Two: Get Your Flowers At Adaptation
The coolest flower shop in town. Stop by for a totally unique arrangement, unlike the bla-bla bunch of roses that everyone else is pushing. Seriously, this is a great opportunity to support a fantastic, independently owned business. In years past I've seen a huge line of guys waiting to buy flowers outside of Whole Foods on Ponce... so if you've been on that line before, step it up and think outside the box. You'll be happy that you did. Click here for more.

Step Three: Get Your Chocolate At Cacao
Complete your Valentine's Day holy trinity at Cacao, Inman Park's new little jewel of a chocolate shop. You'll have her saying "You had me at hello..." before you even say hello (with a box of their scintillating truffles). Click here for more.

Step Four: Buy her a house.
Sandwiched in between Jac, Adaptation and Cacao is my office at Sanctuary Real Estate. You've been thinking about buying her a house for a while... isn't it time you pulled the trigger? Click here to check out my site, or here to read my lovely blog.

Whether you buy her the house, the chocolate, the flowers or the jewelry, make sure you have yourself a sweet time with your sweetie. I know I will. With my sweetie, that is.

A BIG and HEARTFELT thanks!!!

Photographers. Some are good. I am not.
Jesse and Whitney Chamberlain are amazing.

This stylish and super sweet couple are based in Inman Park and when we needed some photos shot last week (for a project we'll disclose next year!) there was no hesitation on who we would call. And not only did they do a phenomenal job, but they were so easy and fun to work with!
Though they handle mostly weddings, engagements and portraits, if you or anyone you know ever is in need of fabulous photography, call them! Our Labor of Love
They also have a super fun blog here.
Thanks you two!!

All Nobbed Up With No Place To Go

Resident Male here with a public service announcement for all y'all I see with bags from Halls of Fine Wine.

First off, you've made a wise decision. Hall's is a great wine shop, and you've had a long day. Enjoy that glass (or two) of Pinotage. Break out some cheese and cured meats from Parish to make the hour even happier. Exhale. Ok, so far, so good. Here's where I think I can help.

DON'T JAM THAT OLD CORK BACK IN YOUR WINE. AND DON'T- GASP- DON'T SCREW THAT TOP BACK ON EITHER!

Jac. just received a shipment of antique-ish wine stoppers from Knobstoppers. They're super stylish and won't leave your half-drunk bottle of Barolo feeling naked and neglected (until tomorrow night, when you complement- and compliment- it with a pizza margherita from Fritti).
You love your wine. Doesn't it deserve to look pretty too?

Eat THIS!

Salvation has arrived.
Seriously.

Down in Inman Park we have a serious collection of restaurants to dine at:
Shauns, the Rathbun empire, Fritti, Sotto Sotto, Wisteria, Il Localino, The Albert, Zaya, Highland Bakery, Pacific Kitchen, Zuma, Inman Perk, P'cheen; the list goes on and on. All of them are lovely and you should definitely come down and partake in them.
But what we have had a lack of, or rather a full-on absence of really, is a wonderfully, fabulous market. A'la Star Provisions on the west side.

And now, lo and behold, Parish has arrived.
Part gorgeous New Orleans-inspired restaurant (upstairs) and part gourmet food mart (below), we now have house-made salami at our doorstep, muffuletta sandwiches on a whim and a cheesemonger's dream spread directly across the street. Yep, you can envy us.

Parish opens to the public this Wednesday the 30th. Expect live jazz brunches, dishes under $20, homeade ice cream and a dog friendly patio with wifi. My attempt to bring you a look from the patio area is below. I took it on the sly with my phone so don't give me any lip!

Come visit us soon and then stop by one of the fab restaurants down here for some good eats! xxxJac.

Beer + Bacon + Bands + Comedy = Baconfest!

First off, this is Jac.’s resident male. Just in case you’re confused as to why today’s blog post is about beer and bacon.
Now on to an important service announcement:
Arrested Development isn’t coming back anytime soon.
No George Michael. No Tobias Funke. No Bluths are in our future. Outside of 30 Rock and The Office, TV is littered with a litany of tragicomedies. Two and A Half Men (Charlie Sheen’s ode to bachlerhood). Til’ Death (starring that ridiculously tall guy from Everybody Loves Raymond). You know what I’m talking about. It’s enough to make you want to Tivo the early morning episodes of Diff’rent Strokes.
That’s the bad news. The good news is Dad’s Garage.
Dad’s Garage is located right around the corner from Jac. It’s a fantastic improv theater that features both scripted comedies as well as good ‘ole improv. It’s a good time, every time, and in my opinion one of Atlanta’s hidden gems. And now, you’ve got an excuse to go. This weekend is their annual Baconfest (from 2-7 pm), an afternoon festival dedicated to eating bacon, drinking beer, raising money to support a most excellent non-profit theater company, and laughing. Oh, and they also have live music. Anyway, it’s definitely a must-attend for folks that either enjoy laughing or eating bacon. Or both. So get off your keester, turn off you Mr. Show dvd and head over to Dad’s Garage on Saturday (and stop by Jac. to say hi, of course!).
