Summer Reading List

One of my favorite things about Jac. is all of the hidden treasures we have scattered throughout. Sometimes all of the beautiful clothing and accessories steal the spotlight away from our impressive reading material. As a book lover, I have spent a lot of time skimming the pages of some really interesting and unique books we have here. Here are just a few that I have found myself looking at more than once..

This book is meant for people that want to recycle but look stylish doing it.. great tips!

This one gives you a close-up look inside some of the world's most celebrated artists' hideaways. It's amazing to see how each place represents them.

Sometimes it can be hard to slow down and appreciate each season's beauty, but this book is a great reminder!

Who ISN'T a Beatles fan? This is a whole entire collection of unique, unpublished photos of the greatest band of all time!

Not only would any of these make great gifts, but also look great on the coffee table.. So next time you stop by, don't forget to check out our awesome collection of entertaining reading!

Jammin' Down Memory Lane

I know nothing about women's bathing suits, other than that they come in two options: one piece, and two piece. I am, after all, the Resident Male. Did you really expect more from me?

Thankfully, I do know something about men's bathing suits. It all begins and ends with Jams.
I used to love Jams. They represented a stark rebuttal to the previous king of the beach, the vaunted Speedo. I received my first pair of Jams somewhere around the time that the Berlin Wall went down, and even then I realized the cultural significance (for both the World as well as my own self-image).

Jams, in all their glory:

Unfortunately, all of my Jams have been retired. Besides the fact that it would be a little strange to wear the same bathing suit that I did when I was thirteen, the Jams all faded, broke down, finally just gave up. If only I had known about The Laundress' Swimwear Care...

This stuff is incredible- it was designed specifically to deal with the unholy trinity of salt, sand and chlorine. Don't let your favorite suit suffer the same fate as my Jams. Come by Jac. and pick up some Swimwear Care. Think of it as Proactiv for your bathing suit.

Get Ready

I was pleasantly surprised this morning to see our Yarborough bangles which we are getting in for Fall, in this morning's New York Times. They are fabulous - merino wool - knit, box stitched, and plain wrapped in colors like magenta, lime, bright blue, black, multi colored and more. Sure to spruce up any and every arm.....Okay, so it will be another few months or so, but something to look forward to!

I'll be the first to admit it, I am not the best when it comes to keeping myself informed. So you must imagine my surprise when I read today that American Greetings just yesterday debuted their updated Strawberry Shortcake with a “fruit-forward” makeover. What?!?? A whole 24 hours and this was not major news? Thank goodness I read Dlisted today!
Anyway, Strawberry Shortcake was a definite favorite of mine growing up. We had dance parties together, tea time...you know, the usual kid stuff.....Anyway, for those who need reminding, she was part of a line of scented dolls (featured on the top left). And actually we have a lip gloss in the store now by Mor which evokes that yummy powdery strawberry scent - I just can't get enough and I guess you can't either - we can't keep it in stock! Anyway, she was so innocent, so at peace - and now, so 2008: The new and improved Strawberry Shortcake no longer prefers gumdrops, but opts for fresh fruit instead; her calico cat Custord has been replaced with a cellphone; and she now has a penchant for lipstick.
Well, I have to say that I am a strong believer in lip glosses, fruit is yummy, and I am not really a fan of cats - so maybe this is an upgrade. What do you think??
